How to Buy a UK Limited Company Name

Start by browsing our portfolio of pre-registered UK Limited company names. You can filter by:

• Incorporation year — from pre-2015 through to 2025
• Name length — single letter, double letter, or longer
• All available names — full browse via the Companies page

Every name in our portfolio is a genuine UK Limited company, fully incorporated at Companies House, with a clean dormant filing history.

When you find a name you like, click the Enquire button on the listing. A short form will appear asking for your name and contact details. Fill it in and submit — that's all we need at this stage.

We aim to respond to all enquiries within one business day with full details including:

• Pricing for the name
• The company's full incorporation details
• A summary of its filing history
• Next steps if you wish to proceed

Once you are happy with the details and the price, simply confirm that you wish to proceed. We will send you payment details and any information we need from you to begin the transfer.

At this point you will need to provide:

• Your full name and residential address (for Companies House records)
• The address you wish to use as the company's registered office
• Proof of identity if required (usually not needed for straightforward transfers)

We handle all the paperwork. The transfer involves filing the relevant forms at Companies House to:

• Appoint you as a director
• Transfer the shares into your name
• Resign the current director
• Update the registered office address if required

This is all done electronically via the Companies House filing system. In most cases the transfer is fully completed within 48 hours of payment.

Once the transfer is confirmed at Companies House, we send you your statutory documents. These typically include:

• Certificate of Incorporation — the official document confirming the company's existence and your ownership
• Memorandum and Articles of Association — the company's constitutional documents
• Share certificate — confirming you as the shareholder

You can also download up-to-date official documents directly from the Companies House register at any time — they are publicly available.

The company is now yours. To begin trading:

1. Notify HMRC that the company is now active (you can do this via the Government Gateway)
2. Register for Corporation Tax (HMRC will provide a Unique Taxpayer Reference)
3. Open a business bank account — your Certificate of Incorporation and Companies House documents are all you need
4. Register for VAT if your expected turnover exceeds the VAT threshold

If you want to keep the company dormant for a while after purchase, simply continue filing dormant accounts each year until you're ready to trade.
